Bora Bora Lagoon Resort & Spa has been chosen in several categories over the years in the annual “Reader’s Choice Awards.” A reader survey totaling over 28,000 responses gives the Condé Nast Traveler poll an authority unique in the world of travel. Condé Nast Traveler readers are tough critics, discriminating travelers, and, when satisfied, emphatic in their praise. Condé Nast Traveler magazine ranked Bora Bora Lagoon Resort & Spa as one of the top 25 Pacific Rim Resorts in2002. In 2001, the resort was once again chosen by the reader’s to be among the top 20 resorts in the Pacific Rim. In 1999 the resort was chosen as the Number One Luxury Resort and the Year’s Top New Hotel.
Orient-Express Hotels, which includes Bora Bora Lagoon Resort & Spa, was ranked number two on the European top ten and number eight on the North American list in Condé Nast Traveler’s (USA) Business Travel Awards as one of the top ten hotel chains for business travelers. Currently, Orient-Express owns five properties in North America and 26 abroad. Hotel chains were judged on how well the rooms were equipped for working, business services facilities, frequent guest privileges, dining/restaurants, check-in and check-out procedures, and housekeeping and maintenance.

This year Spa magazine debuted its first annual Silver Sage Readers’ Choice Awards. In March, the magazine asked readers to vote online for their favorite spas. With over 25,000 responses of readers from around the world, Bora Bora Lagoon Resort and Spa was featured as one of the best loved-spas in Hawaii and the South Pacific.

Celebrated Living magazine again selected Bora Bora Lagoon Resort & Spa as one of their five top hotels in Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific, stating, “It’s fantasy come true: Luxe thatched bungalows are perched over the water with glass spyholes for viewing fish.” Only the most exclusive few rise to the top and make the Platinum List cut offering exquisite surroundings, impeccable service and boast a little something extra that sets it apart. Nearly 67,000 readers responded to the survey, the results the editor states, “Not only a useful reference tool, but also a sort of escapist’s to do list.” Celebrated Living has circulation of over 160,000 and is written for American Airlines Premium Class passengers.

In the January 2008 issue of Travel + Leisure magazine, Bora Bora Lagoon Resort & Spa was rated number one under French Polynesia of the World’s Best Hotels. Each year Travel + Leisure magazine publishes their World’s Best Awards, a compendium of the greatest hotels around the globe as chosen by their readers in the annual World’s Best Survey. For the past decade, readers have identified their favorite hotels, cities, islands, airlines and more.
In the August 2007 issue of Travel + Leisure magazine, Bora Bora Lagoon Resort was selected as one of the Top 25 Hotels in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific.
Marù Spa which opened in late August 2004 at the Bora Bora Lagoon Resort & Spa was named by Travel + Leisure magazine as "One to Watch" in its annual World's Best Spas report featured in the October 2004 issue of the magazine. Although the spa was too new to be evaluated by the magazine's readers in the 2004 World's Best Spas readers' survey, Marù was one of only eight spas that Travel + Leisure editors selected in the "Ones to Watch" category which highlights those spas that the magazine's editors believe will be on the list in years to come.
In June 2003, Travel + Leisure announced the results from their World’s Best Service Readers’ Survey for 2003. World’s Best Service Award winners were selected based on readers’ evaluations of the quality of service on hotels around the world. Departure’s team of editors spent months creating a list of the world’s top hotels, from which they asked their readers to pick their favorites. The survey welcomed over 50,000 online responses as readers selected their favorites among big city hotels, boutique hotels, country hotels, luxury resorts, ski lodges, beach hotels, domestic and international airlines and cruise lines.

With a room rating of 28, and an overall average of 25.25, Zagat’s said of Bora Bora Lagoon Resort & Spa, in the 2006 survey: “You feel like a celebrity (and you might see a few)” at this “magical” “getaways” featuring “spectacular” accommodations including “romantic overwater bungalows” as well as beach and garden cottages that fulfill the “fantasy of being marooned on a private island”; the service is “outstanding”. The results of this survey are created from the shared experiences of nearly 12,000 people and is based on roughly 365,000 nights at hotels per year. On average, to be included in the survey one or more surveyors per night, every night, all year long. Considered the candid, no punches-pulled guide to where to stay and eat, Zagat Surveys have been called “a necessity second only to a valid credit card” by the New York Times. Zagat rates room, service, dining and public/spaces/facilities on a scale of 0 to 30. A rating of 20-25 is considered “very good to excellent, with a 26-30 considered “extraordinary to perfection.”
